Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
A conviction for Stunt Driving:
Most times a stunt driving ticket will be issued when a police officer finds a driver driving in excess of fifty (50) kilometers per hour. Your driver’s license will be suspended for a period of seven (7) days plus a vehicle impoundment for seven (7) days. In addition to excessive speed, a police officer may give a stunt driving ticket where they find a driver operating a motor vehicle in any of the manners described below:
- 50km of excessive speed
- Racing with another motor vehicle for wages
- Hover crafting your vehicle.
Penalties for stunt driving:
- 6-12 demerit points
- Possible further license suspension for up to two (2) years on the first conviction and ten (10) years on the second conviction.
- Fines $2,000 to $10,000.00 fine
- Possible 6-month imprisonment
- 7-day vehicle impoundment
